An opportunity is available for a Policy Engineer (Transformers) reporting to the Engineering Policy Manager, all locations will be considered. You will be accountable to the Manager for: - The development, maintenance and review of Company policy relating to specialism. Contribution to the development, maintenance and review of other Company policy. The development, maintenance and review of a suite of materials that can be used to disseminate policy changes and updates. Represent company on external panels Provision of technical consultancy within the Company on specialism. Maintaining up to date knowledge on NGED policy and specialism. You need to be educated to at least a HNC level for this role and evidence of your qualification certificates will be required prior to appointment. As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need. Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete. Main Responsibilities Main responsibilities Development of new equipment and installation/maintenance techniques which bring about improvements in safety, efficiency and/or reduce lifetime cost. Maintenance and update of Policy systems and databases as required. Presentation of policy matters to NGED and external audience. Support to Field Operations in a technical consultancy role on specialism. Provision of a support service and advice on policy applications and interpretations as required. Be aware of the work of colleagues in Policy Team to provide cover for their activities and specialisms. Provide support to the Training Centre as required. Respond to external consultations related to specialism Deliver results on time, to required quality standards and to budget, to fulfil the business plan and achieve/support company goals. Failure analysis of transformers and RCA reporting. Provide technical support to Asset Risk Participation in related R&D and Innovation work/forums. Lead the direction of future policy for specialism Work collaboratively with other members of the Engineering Policy Team Other duties appropriate to the grade Responsible for: Development of Company Specifications for: - - Transformers - Static Wound Equipment - Plant Enclosures - Noise assessments Development of installation, and maintenance policy/manuals for the above equipment. Organisation and membership of specialist panels. Contribution to the physical design aspect of projects. Membership of any ad-hoc specialist groups as required. Review and preparation of amendment to above policy to take account of new or changed legislation. Maintain a capability to present the latest position on plant technology to Managers and Field Operations. Tendering activities and the preparation of documentation for these activities SOP/DINs and NEDERS review and issue Failure analysis of Transformers Develop strong relationships with suppliers and procurement The Ideal Candidate As a team player you must have an aptitude for the communication of policy details to NGED teams in formal and informal settings. You will need to be confident to deliver presentations and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Full knowledge of NGED policies and procedures. Good general engineering knowledge. Educated to at least HNC level. Excellent inter personal and communication skills. Ability to provide training and advice in formal and informal groups in a range of settings. Valid driving licence is preferred as you will be required to travel to any NGED location as and when required.
