To perform basic preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on machinery, equipment, and facilities.
This role is focused on conducting routine inspections and PPM schedules on a range of plastic manufacturing equipment including injection moulding machines, extrusion lines & mixing plant.
The Technician ensures that equipment runs efficiently, minimizing downtime and maintaining safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Equipment Inspection: Perform routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify any potential issues or wear.
* Preventive Maintenance: Carry out basic preventive maintenance tasks such as lubricating, cleaning, and adjusting components to ensure proper operation.
* Condition Monitoring: Carry out oil analysis, thermal survey & ultrasound monitoring on key plant.
* Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of work performed, including inspection results, repairs, and machine hours.
* Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety requirements and procedures, ensuring the work area is safe and equipment is operated safely.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering team to address complex issues and support engineering works as needed.
* Inventory Management: Assist in managing maintenance-related inventory such as oils, greases, test kits and other consumables.
* Equipment Startup: Support production startups and monitor initial operations after maintenance activities to ensure proper function.
* Training & Development: Stay up-to-date with equipment manuals and training materials, developing basic knowledge of all equipment in use Support
* Support engineering team with 6S / C.I. initiatives.
Person Specification
* Experience of 1st level maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
* Ability to work within team.
* Good communication skills.
* Time management skills – ability to plan and execute work within agreed timescales.
* Use of company computer systems (IFS) for logging data with regards to spares, breakdowns, planned work and inputting for generation of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
* Familiarity with plastic manufacturing equipment advantageous.
* Able to identify priority tasks and adjust own priorities to suit.
