We are seeking Instrumentation Technicians to join our client in Barrow in Furness on an onshore basis. The role is a 12-month contract with extension. 11-hour shifts, 7 days on, 7 days off. PAYE/Inside IR35. Paid overtime.
Overview
To undertake routine and non-routine engineering maintenance and defect/responsive breakdown repair tasks that ensure the reliability and scheduled availability of operational plant and equipment associated with gas production/processing and condensate storage facilities.
Responsibilities
* To execute routine and non-routine maintenance activities efficiently to agreed processes/procedures and operational requirements
* Investigates complex technical problems relating to critical plant, identifies solutions and acts to return plant to normal operating service with minimal supervision
* Prepares and presents technical reports and maintains appropriate records of activities within recognised systems
* Inspection and maintenance of instrumentation equipment in hazardous areas
* Carries out commissioning and de-commissioning activities to meet planned plant operating programmes,organising and planning own and vendor work scopes
* Liaise with operational/production staff and Technicians in other disciplines to ensure a safe and effective approach to tasks within the overall operational and maintenance programme
* Trained to be competent in a range of activities ancillary to his/her core discipline
* Supervises other staff and vendor/contractor employees in undertaking work activities
Required Expertise
* Great communication skills that inform/shares knowledge clearly and unambiguously and also implement and embed change. Builds rapport and is able to influence in a constructive way / skilled at influencing decision makers on complex topics.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively, within their team and across the organization and externally as required.

* Responsible for complex technical problem solving across Gas Production and Condensate Storage Facilities with a Capital Plant value in excess of £550 million.
* Regularly oversee on-the-job training of trainees
* Act as Performing Authority within the Centrica Safe Systems of Work Procedures.
* Supervise small teams of vendors.
* A BTEC Higher National Certificate or equivalent in an appropriate engineering subject.
* Experience of the maintenance of high-pressure process plant and equipment
* The job holder must have sufficient knowledge of procedures and be able to relate them to the work activities to ensure a safe approach and that appropriate perimetry/controls are requested and in place.
