Role Overview
This is a fixed term LAS post to cover a deanery training gap from 26 April to 26 October. The post has been created to provide dedicated support to the Upper GI Surgical service at UHNM. You will join an enthusiastic and dedicated team, working alongside the Consultants, Specialist Registrars, other specialty doctors and an experienced team of Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists. The post holder will gain a wide range of experience in all aspects of Upper GI work. Recent incumbents have secured successful CESR applications.
Responsibilities
* Managing acute Upper GI admissions under Consultant‑led teams.
* Participating in general outpatient teams.
* On‑call commitments, supervised theatre sessions, and surgical training.
* Conducting research and audit work.
* Preparing for higher Upper GI training and applying for Higher Training.
About the Department
The Upper GI Department at the University Hospital of North Midlands provides a broad range of specialist training in areas such as oncological, laparoscopic and robotic surgery services. The training is flexible and suits trainees wishing to pursue a career in Upper GI and apply for higher training. The post is comparable to current ST posts with respect to responsibilities, audit opportunities and training.
