PRODUCTION DESIGN ENGINEER HEAVY ENGINEERING SHEFFIELD COMPETITIVE SALARY Progress Rail is looking to recruit a talented Production Design Engineer to support the manufacturing of our Cast Manganese Products. In this role, youll be responsible for creating detailed casting drawings, work sketches, routing instructions, and Bills of Material (BOMs) to ensure efficient and accurate production. Youll play a key part in enabling the Track Products team to deliver high-quality components through precise and production-ready designs. THE ROLE: As a Production Design Engineer you will be required to: Process jobs in a timely and accurate manner to maximise production throughput and efficiency Improve existing products, processes and design tools and raise with line manager Compare alternative solutions of the product or process with line manager Produce designs for pattern production working with Pattern, Methoding and Machining teams to ensure compliance with best practice Ensure a senior Engineer is consulted and informed regarding all emerging risks and opportunities relating to safety, programme, products or projects Provide high quality, accurate work to established drawing, technical or engineering standards Use and assist in the development of emerging design tools and software Consider product behaviour, manufacturability and maintainability issues throughout the design process Provide support to manufacturing operations to aid engineering compliance issues arising through NCRs or process change Apply a solid understanding of Track Products processes and capabilities to ensure all drawings and supporting documentation align with operational requirements THE CANDIDATE: The ideal Production Design Engineer: Minimum of HNC or equivalent in mechanical or production engineering In depth understanding of technical drawings Understanding of importance of procedures and processes Good knowledge of technical standards, codes and specifications Previous use of AutoCAD or NX beneficial Excellent communication skills Strong IT skills BENEFITS: Incredible development and career growth - tailored training to help you learn and progress Empowered and entrusted to do what you do best Flexible working hours and some working from home available Company funded external qualifications 33 days holiday per annum, pro rate (inclusive of bank/public holidays) Company bonus Company pension scheme with 5% employee and 7% employer contribution As a member of the Group Personal Pension Plan employee covered by the Company funded life assurance for 3 times salary Professional and leadership development Employee Assistance Programme Various employee recognition schemes ABOUT PROGRESS RAIL: Progress Rail, a Caterpillar company, is one of the largest integrated and diversified providers of rolling stock and infrastructure solutions and technologies for the global rail industry.
