We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and motivated Service Manager to provide temporary cover for the current postholder. This is a vital leadership role overseeing four locality social work teams delivering high-quality services to children, young people, and families across the borough. You will have a strong understanding of Children in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) processes and will be responsible for managing and supervising social workers engaged in complex casework. You will also oversee the progression of court work and ensure that CIN and CP plans are effectively implemented. As part of the Childrens Social Care and Integrated Services management team, you will contribute strategically and operationally to ensure the welfare of children and young people is safeguarded and promoted. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and line management to four locality teams, ensuring high-quality practice and compliance with statutory frameworks Oversee and quality assure court work, CIN, and CP plans, ensuring timely and effective interventions Offer professional supervision and guidance to social work managers and staff Develop strong partnerships across social care, health, education, and voluntary sectors to deliver integrated services Represent Childrens Services at internal and external forums, contributing to the development of policy and practice Lead performance management and ensure effective use of budgets and resources. Manage high-level risk and decision-making for children in need of protection, at risk of significant harm, or in care Contribute to strategic planning, workforce development, and service improvement initiatives Essential Criteria Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification) and current Social Work England registration Extensive experience managing childrens social work services, including CIN, CP, and court proceedings Proven record of supervising and developing social work staff Strong understanding of statutory frameworks, policies, and procedures relating to childrens safeguarding Demonstrable experience in strategic and operational management within multi-agency environments Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills Commitment to promoting best outcomes for vulnerable children and families Must hold Enhanced DBS with Children and Adult Barred List Working Monday to Friday 8.30-4.30pm initially on a 3 month contract Hybrid role
