What is the role?
Make a difference every day as a Kitchen Assistant at Hafod.
You will play an important role in supporting the Cook to prepare and serve nutritious, high-quality meals for residents within our Extra Care Scheme. This is a hands-on role where your contribution helps create a safe, hygienic and welcoming dining experience for older people, supporting their wellbeing and independence.

What you’ll be doing
* Assist with the preparation, cooking and presentation of meals and beverages to a high standard
* Maintain excellent hygiene and cleanliness across the kitchen and dining areas in line with food safety standards
* Carry out general kitchen duties such as washing up, setting tables and serving meals
* Ensure kitchen equipment is used safely and report any faults or issues
* Follow health and safety, food hygiene and COSHH policies always while working as part of a team

What you’ll bring
* A positive, practical approach with a willingness to learn and undertake training
* Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* The ability to work calmly under pressure in a busy kitchen environment
* A commitment to delivering a high-quality service and responding to individual needs
* A caring and respectful attitude, with understanding and reliability when supporting older people
Previous catering or care experience is desirable but not essential. We’ll provide the training and support you need to succeed.

Our Homes & Communities colleagues provide a wide range of services across 4 regional teams covering 7 local authority areas in South Wales, supporting people throughout their housing journey. We deliver neighbourhood management, repairs, tenancy sustainability, financial and digital inclusion, community engagement and estate services alongside specialist extra care housing.
Using a person-centred coaching approach, we work alongside people to build confidence, improve wellbeing and help them live well in their homes. Working collaboratively, we deliver a tenure neutral housing management and repairs service, enabling us to be more visible in our communities and respond quickly to meet the needs of our tenants and communities.
