Role Overview: As the Business and IT Curriculum Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering an engaging and innovative curriculum in Business Studies and Information Technology. You will provide strategic leadership and direction for the department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning and promoting the academic and personal development of students. Key Responsibilities: Curriculum Development: Lead the development and implementation of the Business Studies and IT curriculum, ensuring alignment with national standards, exam board specifications, and the needs of students. Teaching and Learning: Provide effective leadership and support to departmental staff, promoting best practices in teaching and learning, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Quality Assurance: Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department, conducting lesson observations, providing feedback, and implementing strategies for improvement. Assessment and Progress Tracking: Oversee the assessment and progress tracking processes within the department, ensuring accurate and timely assessment data, and using data to inform teaching and intervention strategies. Student Support: Provide guidance and support to students, including academic mentoring, careers advice, and pastoral care, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Professional Development: Support the professional development of departmental staff through training, coaching, and mentoring, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous learning. Stakeholder Engagement: Build positive relationships with students, parents, and external stakeholders, promoting the value of Business Studies and IT education and advocating for the department's interests. Ideal Candidate: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Business Studies, Information Technology, or related field. Substantial experience teaching Business Studies and/or IT at the secondary level, with a proven track record of academic success and student engagement. Leadership experience or the potential to lead a curriculum area, with strong organizational and managerial skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and students. Commitment to promoting high standards of teaching and learning, and a passion for fostering the academic and personal development of students.
