Role Title: Instructor Demonstrator Art & Design
Location: Yale
Contract Type: Fixed Term until June 2026, Part Time (0.66 FTE, 24.42 hours per week)
Pro Rata Salary: ID1 £17,122.38 - ID4 £20,093.04 Upper pay range points are subject to evidence of previous progression to Upper Pay Spine.
Coleg Cambria is seeking a dedicated Instructor Demonstrator to join our dynamic Art & Design team at our Yale campus. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage and inspire students through practical instruction and demonstration within our comprehensive Art & Design programmes.
As an Instructor Demonstrator, you will be primarily responsible for delivering structured practical sessions that foster the technical skills and creative talents of our students. You will prepare and execute a schedule of practical activities derived from course coordinators and relevant lecturers. Monitoring student progress across various parameters, such as competency in practical skills, attendance, and discipline, will be essential. Additionally, your role involves assessing student work and contributing to the continuous development and evaluation of our course offerings.
The successful candidate will maintain meticulous records and uphold professional standards when interacting with both students and faculty. Creating a supportive learning environment, championing equal opportunities, and adhering to health and safety protocols are all critical facets of this role. You will also participate in staff development initiatives and are encouraged to pursue your own continuous professional development.
This role is suited to individuals with a passion for textiles and fashion, possessing the ability to motivate and support learners in achieving their potential. Prior experience in a similar educational setting would be advantageous but not essential.
Essential Requirements
1. Qualified to a minimum of Level 3 or equivalent in a professionally relevant subject matter
2. Awareness of the importance of quality standards within teaching
3. Demonstrate an understanding of current developments within your own specialist area and ways of keeping up to date with such developments
4. Recent industrial experience in the relevant specialist area
Welsh Language skills are an essential requirement for this role, however Welsh learners* with the ability to reach a level 3/4 within a 18 months to 2 year period are also encouraged to apply. Welsh learners will need to be at Level 2 and demonstrate a commitment to achieving fluency.
