Job Title: Caretaker
Location: Gateshead
Salary: £13 – £17 per hour (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking hardworking and trustworthy Caretakers to work in schools across Gateshead.
As a Caretaker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the school site. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are proactive and hands-on, with a strong commitment to maintaining safe and welcoming school environments.
Responsibilities of a Caretaker:
* Maintain cleanliness, safety, and security of school premises
* Carry out general maintenance and minor repair tasks
* Ensure school buildings and grounds are well presented and safe
* Support site security, including opening and closing buildings
* Monitor heating, lighting, and basic facility systems
* Assist with setting up rooms and equipment for school activities or events
* Report health and safety issues or maintenance concerns promptly
* Work closely with school staff to support daily operations
Requirements of a Caretaker:
* Previous experience in a caretaking, site maintenance, or facilities role is desirable
* Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures
* Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently
* Strong reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail
* Good communication skills and a professional attitude
* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
