Polypipe Building Products are focused on delivering solutions to the residential sector. Polypipe Building Products works with national and local developers, plumbing and heating engineers, general builders and groundworkers to deliver above and below ground drainage systems, rainwater solutions as well as hot and cold plastic plumbing products.
Role Overview: The HSE and Sustainability Manager is accountable for the implementation and operation of effective frameworks for managing health and safety, environmental, and sustainability aspects throughout the business. This role involves developing implementing and maintaining policies, processes and procedures that protect employees and visitors from workplace hazards, foster health and wellbeing and ensure compliance with environmental regulations whilst minimising the company's ecological footprint. These policies and processes must also align with the overall Genuit Group goals and strategies.
Additionally, the manager is responsible for creating and promoting sustainable practices to reduce the overall environmental impact of the business.
This is a proactive and hands-on role that requires a visible, collaborative leader with the ability to influence, coach, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety:

Drive HSE culture through visible leadership, training, and employee engagement and work with the teams to build and harness a behavioural based safety culture.
*
Develop and communicate HSE policies, processes and procedures throughout the business whilst supporting line managers with the implementation.
*
Monitor and report on H&S performance metrics and trends across all business operations to the Leadership Team and lead the development and implementation of corrective strategies.
*
Support and mentor incident investigations and root cause analysis and ensure corrective action implementation.
*
Coordinate audits and inspections, both internal and external.
*
Manage and maintain all company H&S records.
*
Maintain and improve site-level ISO certifications (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO50001).
*
Participate in group-wide HSE forums, contributing site-level insights and sharing best practices.
*
Assist in the roll-out of Group HSE and sustainability initiatives across UK sites.
*
Support Group audits, reporting frameworks (e.g., incident disclosures), and external certifications.
Environment:
*
Management of all Polypipe Building Products’ waste streams.
*
Engage with site teams to identify and deliver measurable improvements in environmental performance.
*
Manage and maintain all company Environmental related records.
*
Liaise with all relevant external stakeholders on environmental matters.
Sustainability and CSR:
*
Support the development and implementation of site-level sustainability initiatives that align with group ESG targets (e.g., carbon reduction, waste minimisation, energy efficiency).
*
Ensure all group sustainability targets on recycled material, energy and carbon reduction have action plans and are achieved.
*
Finding new, innovative and economically reductive ways to stay green, collaborating with procurement and operations to embed sustainable practices into the supply chain and production processes.

Develop and monitor the business’s sustainability performance.
*
Communicating and marketing sustainability campaigns to internal and external stakeholders, working closely with Marketing and Group functions.
*
Provide subject matter expertise in areas such as net-zero transition, circular economy, and water/energy conservation.
Skills & Requirements:
*
Extensive manufacturing experience with a proven management record, ideally in an FMCG or chemicals environment.
*
NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety Management (or equivalent).
*
In-depth and extensive knowledge of UK H&S and Environmental legislation and regulations.
*
A proven track record of defining and executing a clear HSE strategy which engages the workforce.
*
A broad understanding of sustainability across the industry.
*
Able to identify best practice and interpret this in the context of the business’s activities.
*
A proven track record of delivering success in other sizeable operational leadership roles. This role requires a deep understanding of HSE processes and how to continually improve them.
*
Demonstration of clear structured problem solving to deliver defined tangible results.
*
Strong communication, coaching and influencing skills across all levels and proven ability to build a strong and capable team around them.
*
Experience with ISO management systems (14001, 45001, 50001).
