JOB TITLE: Software Engineer

SALARY: £48,987 - £54,430

LOCATION: Leeds

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in the Leeds office

About this opportunity
We are looking for a motivated back-end engineer to join feature teams dedicated to building a brand-new digital stockbroking platform from the ground up in Java.

In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of online trading by designing and implementing a streamlined, customer and colleague focussed platform that will redefine how our customers invest.

What you'll do…

1. Join the Stockbroking Lab's engineering team and enhance our future platform proposition.
2. Collaborate with other engineers, product owners, architects, and other key stakeholders to deliver features and functionality.
3. Take ownership of your own development, skills and career growth.
4. Develop & deliver HTTP API services for our new Stockbroking app
5. Work in line with our own good engineering guidelines, and contribute to those guidelines

What you’ll need

Proven experience of…

6. Building back end RESTful APIs in Java
7. Backend Microservices & accompanying frameworks (e.g. Spring Boot)
8. Developing high quality, testable, re-usable and modular code with technologies like modern versions of Java, Spring Boot/Quarkus, Maven and Kafka.
9. An understanding of developing high quality code and good service design through principles & practices like Clean Code, SOLID principles, Domain Driven Design and TDD
10. GIT, source code management and managing concurrent change on a large code base.
11. Automation and CI/CD across the SDLC using CI tooling
12. Working with large-scale applications developed with high performance in mind
13. Using distributed systems. Experience with asynchronous programming techniques and event driven architectures is a bonus
14. Cloud native solutions (GCP) and integration with SaaS solutions via RESTful APIs.
15. Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and experience with cloud platforms such as GCP.

And any experience of these would be really useful

16. Delivering software solutions in financial services (particularly trading/investments or wealth)
17. Greenfield development
18. Delivering large scale data migrations (500k+ customers)
19. Expertise in GCP, Quarkus, Kubernetes and Harness
