About the Role:
We are seeking a committed, resilient, and compassionate Residential Support Worker to join our team in a therapeutic residential home for young females aged 11-17who have been involved in the youth justice system. The role involves providing consistent, structured, and trauma-informed support to help young people reintegrate into society, build positive relationships, and reduce the risk of reoffending.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and emotional support to young people in a safe and structured environment.
* Act as a positive role model, promoting pro-social behaviour, emotional regulation, and healthy boundaries.
* Implement individual care and behaviour management plans developed in collaboration with social workers, therapists, and youth offending teams.
* Support young people in developing independent living skills, education engagement, and constructive hobbies.
* Contribute to the safeguarding and welfare of all residents, following child protection procedures at all times.
* Support the delivery of restorative justice practices and risk reduction strategies.
* Manage challenging behaviour in a calm, professional, and non-confrontational manner.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including incident reports, daily logs, and keywork sessions.
* Participate in team meetings, supervision, training, and reflective practice sessions.
* Support the home's commitment to a trauma-informed and therapeutic approach to care.
Essential Requirements:
* Good level of strength in character, restraint could potentially be daily within the service due to the type of children in the home
* Minimum age 21
* Experience working with young people with complex needs or within youth offending, social care, or residential care.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to remain calm and de-escalate high-stress situations.
* Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
* Full UK driving licence (preferred or required depending on location).
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
* NVQ Level 3 in Children's Residential Care (or willingness to complete within 2 years).
* Experience working in a youth offending, secure unit, or similar high-risk setting.
* Understanding of trauma-informed care, attachment theory, and adolescent development.
* Training in physical intervention/restraint - Mandatory part of role
