The role provides strong leadership in vendor and supplier relationship management, ensures service continuity and resilience, and drives effective agile delivery practices to balance live service support with operational change. A Day in the Role A typical day may start with attending daily standups, where you'll act as Scrum Master. It's likely you'll facilitate two standups: one for the ITSM Tooling team and one for the Observability team. For the ITSM Tooling team, this could include supporting the delivery of a new Agentic AI capability, while for the Observability team it may involve facilitating work to refresh monitoring standards. You may then spend time preparing for an upcoming sprint planning session, building an understanding of team capacity and working with stakeholders to agree priorities. This could be followed by reviewing a supplier quote and starting the renewal process well in advance of expiry, working collaboratively with procurement, legal, and risk colleagues. Around the middle of the day, there's the opportunity to take a break and enjoy lunch with colleagues in the canteen, providing time to connect informally and build strong working relationships. Later in the day, you'll represent the area at the Weekly Service Review, sharing updates such as aged tickets and helping teams work through complex or challenging issues. You might also catch up with a team member to confirm plans for an upcoming failover test, before finishing your day by attending a scorecard meeting with one of our key suppliers to review performance and next steps. Minimum Criteria We're looking for someone who has the following key skills and experience: Experience of running the agile ways of working methodology, ensuring good practice across standups, retrospectives, backlog refinement, and sprint ceremonies. Operational leadership including supporting in the management of day-to-day activities of the team, actively removing blockers Strong understanding of ITIL processes Proven stakeholder management and communication skills. Essential Criteria We are interested in hearing from candidates who have the following capabilities: Experience of working with third party suppliers in an operational context, including holding suppliers to account for delivery, service performance, or contractual commitments. Experience of building effective working relationships with others and provide challenge where appropriate Attention to detail with the ability to craft concise, informational reports A high level of integrity, organization and self-motivation with a desire for self-improvement Desirable Criteria It would also be beneficial, but not necessary, to have some of the following: Understanding of commercial, procurement, or contract renewal processes, including working with legal, risk, or procurement teams Familiarity of delivering Agentic AI tooling such as AIOps in ITSM tooling, observability platforms, or data centre operations Experience working with commercial frameworks and governance processes Experience of representing a service or team in governance forums, such as service reviews, operational meetings, or change discussions Don't hesitate to apply if you don't meet all the essential criteria. How This Role Fits into the Wider Bank This role sits within the Service Operations and Tooling area of the Service Division in Technology. The team is responsible for managing the Bank's Data Centre operations, alongside its Observability and ITSM tooling. The Service Division owns the end-to-end operation of the IT services and devices used by Bank colleagues. It brings together the Bank's foundational Technology teams to provide clear service accountability, enabling colleagues across the organisation to deliver and protect the Bank's mission. We ensure that services perform at the appropriate level to meet business needs, with all systems underpinning business processes actively monitored to ensure availability and performance. As the Bank begins its journey to deliver greater efficiency and value, this role is critical in helping achieve those outcomes, particularly through the deployment of Agentic AI tooling and the continued modernisation of operational practices. Salary and Benefits Information We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. We offer a salary as follows: £64,480 - £72,540 In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below: Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year. The Bank has the discretion to vary standard accrual rates and dial up and dial down rates at any time and to withdraw dial up and dial down options at any time. A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
