About the role The Events team’s activities focus on improving the place, vibrancy and liveability of Penrith via a program of events that scale from targeted community events through to large, dynamic festivals with tourism outcomes. The Events and Activations Program Manager is responsible for oversight of the development and delivery of the Penrith Events Strategy as well as the program of flagship, regional and community celebrations that deliver on Council’s aspirations in this strategy. The Events and Activations Program Manager works alongside other managers in the City Activation, Community and Place department, providing leadership in addressing challenging social issues, supporting residents, businesses, community services and diverse stakeholders to deliver social and economic outcomes and meet locally identified needs. The City Activation, Community and Place department sits within the City Futures division, which is responsible for planning and delivering a better city for all residents now and into the future. Working with others across the department and Council, the Events and Activations Program Manager will demonstrate leadership and capacity to motivate and support staff to develop professionally, innovate in their work and be focused on outcomes that are measurable and deliverable for the community. Essential criteria Tertiary qualifications in one or more of the following areas or similar: Community Engagement, Community Development, Cultural Development, Leadership, Social Policy, Communication, Event Management Demonstrated strong engagement and negotiation skills with a range of stakeholders including community/cultural organisations, state agencies, the community and business Experience in the design and management of communication and marketing strategies including social media Demonstrated ability to lead the design, delivery and measurement of place-based activations, events, programs and strategies to achieve strategic, community, cultural and economic outcomes Demonstrated ability to lead, support and manage dynamic and diverse teams and contractors to deliver programs and services that achieve organisational goals Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating influencing, collaboration and negotiation skills Desirable criteria Experience in marketing and promotion Experience working within a government framework, especially local government Commnecing Salary: $125,617.00 p.a, plus 11.5% Superannuation. Access to a Motor Vehicle Allowance is available with this position; however, it is not a condition of employment.
