Overview
We are looking for a Bailiff to work with HM Courts & Tribunals Service. The role involves visiting people in their homes and businesses to explain court orders and help resolve matters while maintaining a customer‑focused approach.
Responsibilities
* Visit individuals at their homes or businesses to explain court orders and options for resolution.
* Communicate clearly and calmly, demonstrating empathy, and remain non‑judgmental.
* Assess circumstances on the spot and adapt plans to meet the needs of the customer and the court.
* Lead discussions in emotionally charged situations and exercise good judgment.
* Use court case‑management systems and other IT tools effectively.
* Maintain accurate records of visits and actions taken.
* Participate in training and ongoing mentoring to develop bailiff skills.
Qualifications
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong customer‑service orientation and ability to work independently or in a small team.
* Capacity to handle emotionally intense situations with confidence and calm.
* Familiarity with IT and willingness to learn court case‑management systems.
* Valid UK or EU driving licence.
* Own a road‑worthy vehicle or willingness to use a vehicle provided after probation.
