Cat 3 Supervisor - M&E Substation Construction (SSEN)
Contract | 6 Months | ASAP Start | Near Dundee
£350-£380 per day
We are supporting a principal contractor delivering two SSEN substation build projects near Dundee and are looking to appoint an experienced Cat 3 Supervisor with a mechanical & electrical (M&E) background.
This is a contract role, starting ASAP, with an initial 6‑month duration.
The Role
The Cat 3 Supervisor will provide day‑to‑day supervision of M&E construction activities within the substation environment, ensuring all works are carried out safely, compliantly, and in line with SSEN safety rules and project requirements.
You will work across two nearby substation sites, liaising closely with site management, subcontractors, and commissioning teams.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise M&E installation and construction works on substation projects
Ensure compliance with SSEN safety rules, permits, and procedures
Review and implement RAMS, ensuring safe systems of work at all times
Coordinate M&E subcontractors and on‑site operatives
Monitor progress against programme and report on site activity
Act as a focal point for safety, quality, and on-site coordination
Requirements
Valid SSEN Cat 3 Authorisation (essential)
Background in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works, ideally within substations or HV environments
Previous experience supervising power, utilities, or energy infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of SSEN standards, construction processes, and safe working practices
ECS/CSCS card (relevant discipline)
SSSTS or SMSTS, and First Aid (preferred)
Ability to work across multiple sites as required
Contract Details
Day Rate: £350 - £380 (depending on experience)
Duration: 6 months
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Two substation builds near Dundee
Engagement: Contract (CIS or Ltd - IR35 status subject to assessment)
