We have an exciting opportunity for a diagnostic radiographer with MR experience to join the pre-treatment team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust Proton Beam Therapy Centre. We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic, and ambitious individual with consistent attention to detail, a desire for improvement, and a strong team ethic.
As a superintendent radiographer, the post holder will work alongside existing therapeutic radiographers as part of the management team to lead both therapeutic and diagnostic radiographers in the safe operation and efficient running of the pre-treatment area. The pre-treatment area and team operate a mould room for immobilisation equipment production, as well as CT and MR scanners used for pre-treatment imaging and MRI research in radiotherapy.
The pre-treatment area at the proton beam therapy centre is unique in the UK for functioning as a cohesive mixed professional team, with diagnostic and therapy radiographers working together to deliver excellent patient care while maintaining high standards of radiation and MR safety.
The post holder will be responsible for the daily operational management of the proton pre-treatment areas, ensuring compliance with the department's quality system, professional standards, and national guidance. They will provide clinical leadership, supervise pre-treatment procedures across mould room, CT, and MRI, and be knowledgeable about UK and international MR safety guidelines to lead MR safety initiatives and act as the MR Responsible Person for the department.
The role involves leading the implementation of new techniques, software, and technology to ensure safe transition from development to clinical practice, as well as the development and optimisation of MRI and CT imaging in PBT. The post holder will also manage current imaging trials and audits, contributing to research efforts.
