The Cleaning & Environmental Supervisor is responsible for all cleaning operations at an outside retail park, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for customers by monitoring Health & Safety systems and promoting best practices in all cleaning tasks. The supervisor will also recruit and train cleaning staff. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential for working daily with the cleaning team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
* Maintain COSHH, SDS, SOPs, and compliance documentation securely.
* Oversee site cleanliness and daily standard operating procedures.
* Prepare and manage staff rotas, updating line managers as needed.
* Coordinate with line managers for agency staff cover and conduct initial training and inductions.
* Manage stock control of cleaning materials, tools, and chemicals.
* Check and sign for cleaning stock and equipment deliveries.
* Escort contractors and support site maintenance activities.
* Support weather-related cleaning needs, including flood clean-up and grit/salt spreading.
* Maintain cleanliness of staff facilities and management areas.
* Report damaged equipment to suppliers and site management.
* Collaborate with security and support teams within cleaning remit.
* Perform annual or more frequent training and appraisals for cleaning staff.
* Conduct return-to-work interviews and documentation.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
* Support and manage cleaning staff operations.
* Respond promptly to issues and maintain high customer satisfaction levels.
* Maintain compliance records and ensure periodic cleaning tasks are completed.
* Proficient in IT systems, including Timegate.
* Proactively pursue continuous improvement and innovation.
* Ensure availability of appropriate equipment and training for staff.
* Proven experience in operational cleaning management in retail environments.
* Strong leadership skills and ability to foster a positive team culture.
* Knowledge of environmental cleaning standards.
* Ability to work as part of a team and across departments.
* Flexible, hardworking, and well-organized.
* Proficient in working outdoors in all weather conditions.
