We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Early Years Worker to join our team at Pen Green Centre for Children and Families. The position is in our Nursery.

The working hours for this post are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, year round, 52 weeks per year. The starting salary for this post is £28,624 (The recent uplift of 3.2% on all NJC scales needs to be added to this.)

Key responsibilities:

· To work with individuals and groups of children both indoors and outdoors, providing safe, stimulating and appropriate learning and play experiences which promote children's social, emotional, physical and intellectual learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum

· To contribute to making observations and assessments, ensuring there are up to date and ongoing records for children in the setting, in consultation with other team members, which provide for children's individual needs.

· To support working with parents and children together, encouraging and involving parents/carers in children's learning and other Children's Centre activities.

· To report any cause for concern regarding a child's health or welfare to the designated senior member of staff responsible for Child Protection/Safeguarding Children.

To support Family Workers in implementing individual educational programmes for children with Special Educational Needs ensuring their full integration into the setting.

Key requirements:

· Level 3 qualification in Nursery Education/ Child care or equivalent (e.g. NNEB) Must be full and relevant in accordance with the DfE listings of acceptable qualifications at Level 3 (The link to check your qualification is on the recruitment section of our website)

· GCSE English & Maths Grade C or above

· Experience of working directly with children in a nursery/ nursery school or children's centre setting

· Experience of working alongside adults in a supportive role

· Experience of working in a small team

· Working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and experience of putting this into practice
