This fixed-term post for 12 months involves the day-to-day management of the Surgical Centre's medical staffing rotas, ensuring appropriate staff levels and clinical safety are maintained at all times.
This position requires an individual with excellent planning and organizational skills. The successful candidate will work closely with Clinical Directors, Consultants, the Senior Management team, and the Medical People Services Department to support these busy departments.
The post holder should be proficient in Microsoft Office, have an exemplary attention to detail, and be a great communicator. They will work in close liaison with Medical People Services to review and implement processes and systems that improve the efficiency of locum booking, reduce Trust spend, enhance patient safety, and minimize errors.
Main duties of the job
1. Act as the point of contact for all teams regarding expert advice on medical staffing vacancies, both short and long term.
2. Review unexpected absences daily and use initiative to find solutions to ensure rota gaps are mitigated, escalating concerns to the senior Operational Team if unresolved.
3. Arrange locum cover for doctors in the Surgical Centre.
4. Contact doctors directly for urgent cover via face-to-face, calls, emails, or group texts.
5. Collaborate with Consultant staff and Medical teams to fill temporary vacancies and support longer-term solutions to rota gaps.
6. Establish and maintain effective administrative systems between Medical Staffing, HR, and manage frequent changes.
7. Liaise weekly with Medical Staffing regarding vacancy progress, investigate delays, and coordinate resolutions.
