To join a team that provides comprehensive consultant-based patient-centred management of General Surgical and benign upper GI conditions and diagnosis of malignant upper GI disease. To participate in the General Surgery emergency on call rota.
The post-holder will be expected to contribute to a consultant led service. The appointee will share responsibility for delivering high-quality care to patients and provide out-of-hours on call support.
The main aims of this appointment are:
To join a team managing General Surgical and benign upper GI conditions and diagnosing malignant upper GI disease.
To participate in the General Surgery emergency on call rota.
Responsibilities include:
Contributing to a consultant-led service.
Sharing responsibility for high-quality patient care.
Providing out-of-hours on call support, attending out-of-hours as per protocols, and remaining contactable.
Carrying out ward rounds.
Participating in undergraduate teaching.
Assisting with postgraduate training for junior staff.
Acting as Educational Supervisor where appropriate.
