Quantity Surveyor (Fast track/Refurbishment)
Location & Working Conditions
Based in Stoke on Trent Head Office with hybrid working (office or regional office, home and site). Some national travel and overnight stays may be required. Working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, typically 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.
Role Summary
The Quantity Surveyor will obtain and evaluate information to ensure realistic costs for the supply of works, goods, materials and services for designated fit‑out and refurbishment projects, liaising with contractors, suppliers and clients to meet cost, profitability and value requirements.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation, processing and selection of estimates, bids and tenders to demanding timescales.
* Assist in the development of the procurement programme from handover to estimating.
* Manage subcontractors from procurement through mobilisation, including reviewing applications, assessing variations and issuing relevant certificates in accordance with contract requirements.
* Prepare and monitor cash‑flow forecast for designated projects.
* Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment to the client or client’s representative.
* Prepare monthly cost valuation reports.
* Submit invoices for certified value and ensure payments are received on time.
* Value and authorise payments to subcontractors.
* Liaise with contract managers to establish the project specification and requirements.
* Attend and contribute to meetings with work colleagues and/or clients/customers to build relationships and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
* Monitor contract progress, assess and report any changes that may affect project costs or timescale.
* Assist in the control of contract budgets.
Qualifications
* Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in Education, Retail or Leisure refurbishment/fast‑fit projects in a live environment.
* Knowledge of JCT forms of contract preferred.
* Attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient in IT and MS Office.
* Full UK driving licence (national travel required).
