Advanced Nurse Practitioner – Diagnostics, NSS and Upper GI pathways
An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to join our newly designed team to deliver nurse-led diagnostics. You will drive, lead, and showcase advanced autonomous nursing practice by applying advanced assessment and diagnostic skills in managing patients referred with a possible diagnosis of cancer. Diagnostic processes include appointment scheduling, clinical assessment, consent, review of imaging, and non-invasive endoscopy procedures such as capsule sponge, as well as relaying diagnoses.
The role requires delivering a comprehensive diagnostic pathway for patients suspected of having cancer, managing patients on this pathway up to diagnosis, and liaising with other services (e.g., Clinical/Medical Oncology). Performing non-invasive endoscopy procedures requires developing highly specialized skills and using specialist equipment. Training junior staff in these skills is also a key part of this role.
You will provide clinical leadership and support consultants to ensure seamless patient care and high-quality clinical outcomes. Additionally, you will act as an innovator, motivator, and role model to support clinical pathway redesign within cancer services, including quality improvement, national initiatives, and service reconfiguration.
