Data Quality Officer

Anexciting opportunity has arisen for a confident, enthusiastic, and motivatedindividual to work within the Cancer Services Department in County Durham &Darlington Acute NHS Foundation Trust.

This post is 30 hours x 2 andwill be based at either Darlington Memorial Hospital or University Hospital ofNorth Durham.

Ourteam currently operated under Agile working agreements which is a mix ofon-site and remote working from their home base and once fully trained it isexpected that the post holder will also adopt this working pattern.

Main duties of the job

Youwill track patients referred with suspected cancer and record data within adedicated system, using other trust systems to find relevant information. Youwill also and provide comprehensive administrative support for CancerSite-Specific Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDT) meetings, collating lists ofpatients to be discussed and collecting information required for the meetings.You will need to work to tight deadlines so that MDT members are notified inadvance and can prepare for their role in the meeting.

This is a developmentalrole and you will be expected, after a period of training, to cover MDTmeetings which involves recording a summary of discussions at the meeting,projected live to MDT members.

Ourdepartment currently works in an agile way, and you would be expected to be onsite full-time during a period of training and then be on site at least 2 daysper week.

Job responsibilities

TheCancer Pathway Support Officer will be an integral part of a small CancerPathway team supporting the Cancer Pathway Coordinator to ensure high level MDTprovision, including collation of relvant clinical information for meetings,inputting data direct from MDT meetings, distribution of MDT documentation toprimary and secondary care as necessary. This role is developmental with theaim of the post holder being responsible for an allocated MDT Meeting oncefully trained. The Cancer PathwaySupport Officer will record summaries of discussions at MDT meetings, projectedlive to MDT members

Youwill work alongside our Cancer Pathway Coordinators to ensure effectiveco-ordination of pathways for patients with suspected or diagnosed cancer andthat information is recorded accurately for Cancer Waiting Time targets. Although you will have no direct contact withpatients and their families you will work closely with the appropriate teams toensure that their journey is seamless and will make a valuable contribution tothe improvement of both quality and experience.

Qualifications

* GCSE English and Mathematics grades A-C or equivalent qualification, e.g., Level 2 functional skills either as separate subjects or part of NVQ.
* Secretarial / Administrative training and / or experience
* NVQ 3 / 4 in business administration or equivalent experience/qualification
* NVQ 3 / 4 in business administration or equivalent experience/qualification


Experience

* Experience in an administrative / secretarial role.
* Previous experience of working in the NHS.


Special Requirements

* Ability to input data for significant periods of time using a VDU.
* Ability to transport laptops using appropriate equipment.
* Ability to concentrate on tasks whilst managing frequent interruptions.
* Ability to cope with exposure to details regarding patients that may be distressing.
* Ability and willingness to travel across the trust sites as required.
* Positive attitude towards change.


Special Skills and Knowledge

* Ability to take accurate notes and summarise actions appropriately at meetings.
* Ability to work effectively with a low level of direct supervision.
* Ability to work effectively as a member of several teams.
* Awareness for the need for confidentiality at all times.
* Computer literacy ability to use a wide variety of systems.
* Demonstrate ability to work to specific deadlines
* Knowledge of appropriate legislation with regards to sharing patient and staff data and protecting confidentiality.
* Awareness of the Cancer Waiting Times targets and their application to the management of patient pathways.
* Ability to contribute to the improvement of patient pathways. Experience/training in NHS hospital systems
