THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit a Senior Structural Engineer for our client based in Northamptonshire. The Company’s principal focus is the design, manufacture and operation of specialist equipment and temporary works for the construction of bridges, buildings, offshore structures, refineries, power stations and industrial plants. Working within a team of engineers and CAD technicians, carrying out conceptual and detailed design of permanent and temporary structures and equipment, particularly related to construction engineering of bridges, tower systems and complex structures. Attendance on site when required to assist in heavy lifting and moving operations.
THE ROLE
7. Conceptual and detailed design of permanent and temporary structures, particularly in steel.
8. Erection engineering including preparation of method statements
9. Design and specification of specialist equipment, particularly related to heavy lifting and moving projects
10. Static analyses of structures using structural analysis (FEA) computer programs
11. Preparation of detailed calculations using Excel (preferred) or by hand
12. Preparation of sketches and drawings using AutoCAD or by hand
13. Liaison with CAD team
14. Development of standard spreadsheet solutions suitable for use with Excel
15. Assist in the management of the design office and lead other members of the team
16. Attendance on site when required to assist in heavy lifting and moving operations
THE PERSON
17. Chartered engineer, or in final stages of achieving chartered status (MICE or MIStructE)
18. 5 to 8 years post graduate experience
19. Experience in analysis and design of structures, particularly in steel
20. Experience in the use of finite element analysis computer programs
21. Good general IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail systems)
22. Experience in the use of computer drafting programs (AutoCAD)
23. Good presentation and communications skills
24. Relevant site experience
25. Good working knowledge of Eurocodes, particularly EC3
Preferable:
26. Experience in design of temporary works, particularly related to heavy lifting and moving projects
27. Experience in the design of hydraulic equipment
