What you’ll be doing
as a Data Asset Register Lead
1. Creating and maintaining a comprehensive catalogue of all data sources within the organisation using Azure Purview.
2. Classify data based on its information type, sensitivity, quality and business value.
3. Track data lineage using Azure Purview to support transparency and data integrity across the organisation.
4. Work with IT and security teams to set up appropriate access controls and monitor data usage to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.
5. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including data owners, data stewards, IT teams and business units.
6. Provide training and support to other users of Azure Purview in the organisation.
7. Enforce data governance policies by setting up automated data validation and policy enforcement in Azure Purview.
8. Stay up to date with new Azure Purview features and data governance best practices, and adapt internal processes as needed.

You should have the following experience and skills:
12. Experience with Azure Purview, including data cataloguing, data classification, data lineage tracking and policy enforcement.
13. Experience with data security principles and data privacy regulations.
14. Familiarity with other data management tools (Power BI, SQL Server).
15. Experience in managing data-related projects, coordinating with different teams and driving project deliverables.
16. Solid understanding of data governance principles and practices.
17. Knowledge of Azure cloud services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks or Azure Synapse Analytics.
18. Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
19. A proactive attitude towards learning, adapting to change, and continuous improvement in data governance practices.
Desirable experience includes:
20. Experience in the water industry or other utilities.
21. Familiarity with Azure Data Lake, Lakehouse architecture or Master Data Management (MDM).
22. Ability to write SQL queries and understanding of data warehousing concepts.
