Do you have a commitment to making a difference to women’s lives? Are you passionate about supporting women in a holistic, trauma-informed way to divert women away from the Criminal Justice System and to achieve long-term lasting change? We are looking for a passionate and empathetic person to support in delivering a Women’s Responsive Liaison and Diversion Service, to be based primarily at The Nelson Trust Women’s Centre, Gloucester, in partnership with Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust. You will provide a range of interventions and support to women involved in or at risk of the criminal justice system due to experiencing multiple and complex needs. To offer support to reduce social harms such as homelessness, substance misuse, mental and physical illness, extreme poverty, and violence and abuse. To offer both one to one practical and emotional support and group interventions with the aim of raising self-esteem, self-efficacy and enhancing social and recovery capital. Lived experience of having been through the criminal justice system, and of mental health, or other associated vulnerabilities is essential, and this should be declared on the application form. Anything that is declared will need to be assessed and considered via the Trust’s Pre-Employment recruitment checks processes before employment can be confirmed. Responsibilities will include: Undertaking comprehensive assessments of client needs, including health, psychological, and social needs, and assessing risk as part of the process. Working collaboratively with clients to develop, implement, and review gender-responsive support plans based on individual needs, aimed at promoting personal change. Providing practical and emotional support to clients in relation to assessed and support planned needs. Case managing and keyworking assigned clients. Building close working relationships with other statutory and voluntary sector partners to ensure effective collaborative multi-agency working. Attending Family and/or Criminal court with clients, whether appearing as offenders or victims, and supporting them through the court process. Facilitating group interventions. Successfully complete the Adult Care Level 2 Apprenticeship within the required timescale whilst undertaking the requirements of the position. What we are looking for: A good level of general education, including English and Maths. Lived experience of the criminal justice system. Awareness of trauma-informed approaches to working with women. Knowledge of a range of relevant local services and women's entitlements, and how to signpost clients to appropriate services. Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time, and act on own initiative. Ability to understand, empathise, and uphold The Nelson Trust ethos, aims, and principles. Experience of adhering to organisational policies, particularly with regard to child and adult safeguarding. Ability to communicate with, develop, and maintain constructive working relationships with a wide range of people using excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Enthusiasm for learning and development and the ability to attend and participate in all mandatory and statutory training events. Due to the nature of the work carried out in our Women’s Centres this role is restricted to female applicants only in accordance with the provisions of the occupational requirement (Equality Act 2010, pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1).
