Are you a construction leader with a deep understanding of CDM regulations, large-scale industrial projects, and the coordination of multidisciplinary teams across high-spec process environments?
This is an exciting opportunity to take a hands-on, site-based leadership role in the delivery of two landmark projects that are redefining sustainable fuel production. Backed by major investment, these projects combine pharma-grade standards, complex engineering, and precision construction delivery - and we need a Construction Manager who thrives in fast-paced, high-integrity environments.
You’ll oversee the EPCm’s construction execution team—ensuring safety, quality, and compliance while managing subcontractors, supporting project planning, and keeping progress aligned with critical path milestones. This is a high-visibility role ideal for someone with a track record of success in chemical, pharmaceutical, or advanced manufacturing builds.
Job Responsibilities:
Planning & Scheduling
* Support and review the development of detailed construction schedules, resource plans, and site logistics in collaboration with the EPCm team.
* Ensure work is delivered in line with critical path milestones and broader project programme.
Construction Oversight
* Direct oversight of the EPCm’s Construction Manager, site supervisors, and subcontractor teams.
* Ensure construction activities are aligned with design specifications, safety regulations, and contractual requirements.
* Maintain high levels of site visibility, providing direction and leadership to day-to-day operations.
Safety Management
* Promote and enforce a strong health, safety, and environmental (HSE) culture on-site.
* Ensure compliance with UK CDM Regulations and all site-specific safety protocols.
* Lead incident investigations and corrective actions where required.
Quality Control
* Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and quality reviews to verify that all construction works meet specification.
* Work with quality assurance teams to support FATs and handover documentation.
Subcontractor & Stakeholder Coordination
* Manage and coordinate subcontractor performance, ensuring alignment with project goals and productivity expectations.
* Act as a key point of contact between site operations and wider engineering, procurement, and client teams.
* Provide regular progress updates to internal and external stakeholders.
Cost & Risk Management
* Monitor construction costs and variations; support accurate forecasting and budget control.
* Identify and mitigate construction-related risks early, adjusting plans and resourcing as required.
Documentation & Compliance
* Ensure accurate site records are maintained, including daily reports, permits, change logs, and inspection records.
* Guarantee compliance with all relevant construction legislation, permits, and environmental standards.
Problem Solving
* Act as the go-to lead for on-site troubleshooting, addressing delays, technical challenges, and interface issues as they arise.
Experience Required:
* Degree-qualified or time-served professional in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Significant site-based construction experience on large-scale capital projects (£20m+), ideally within pharmaceuticals, chemicals, oil & gas, or similar regulated environments.
* Strong knowledge and practical experience with UK CDM Regulations.
* Proven ability to lead subcontractor teams, oversee site logistics, and maintain construction standards under pressure.
* Familiarity with EPCm delivery models and interfacing with project engineering and procurement teams.
* Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills – able to drive productivity and resolve issues swiftly.
* Experience in managing HSE compliance, site inspections, and commissioning preparation is essential.
* Comfortable working in a high-visibility role on a fast-paced, multi-phase project
