Job Title: Social Worker – Children’s Services (West Locality) Locations: Woodfieldside, Ty Gilfach, Ty Pontygwindy, Rhymney Responsible to: Team Manager Salary: £287.23 Per day UMBRELLA (£216.82 PAYE) Contract Type: Full Time - 37 Hours per week - Initially 3 months - potential to extend Working on behalf of Caerphilly County Borough Council, we are looking for a passionate and skilled Social Worker to join their Children’s Services Team covering the West locality of Caerphilly County Borough. This is a rewarding frontline role working with children and families who require assessment, support, and protection. You will manage a varied caseload from initial assessment through to longer-term intervention, including child protection, looked after children, and court work. You will be part of a supportive team structure with regular supervision and opportunities for professional development. The Role You will: Deliver high-quality assessments and care management for children and families requiring ongoing intervention Develop and review outcome-focused plans within statutory timescales Manage a caseload including short- and long-term work (Child in Need, Child Protection, CLA, Court) Participate in a duty rota and respond to new referrals Represent the service at Court and Panel meetings, including report writing and verbal evidence Work in partnership with education, health, police, and other agencies Maintain accurate and timely case records and data systems Contribute to service development and performance targets Demonstrate professional accountability for your practice with supervision and support Undertake flexible working, including occasional evenings and weekendsFostering Team applicants (where applicable) will also support foster carer recruitment, assessment, supervision, and retention activity. Essential Requirements Diploma or Degree in Social Work (or predecessor qualification) Registered (or eligible to register) with Social Care Wales Up-to-date knowledge of childcare legislation, policy, and safeguarding practice Experience working with children, young people, and families Experience of assessment and care planning Ability to identify and manage risk of significant harm Strong report writing and case recording skills Effective decision-making and time management skills Experience of multi-agency working Good IT skills Full UK Category B driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use Willingness to work flexibly across the boroughDesirable Experience of child protection and care proceedings Evidence-based practice knowledge Presentation and training skills Welsh language skills Post-qualifying awards (e.g., Enabling Practice)Safeguarding & Compliance - This post requires: Enhanced DBS check (Children’s barred list) Commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding duties Commitment to equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practice If you are ready to take your next locum role and meet the requirements above, apply today!
