An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Capital Project Manager within the Education and Skills Service.
The role is permanent, full-time, and based at County Hall, Morpeth. As Capital Project Manager, you will support the Capital Programme Manager and lead all aspects of project development and delivery across a wide variety of capital projects.
Role of the Job
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
1. Manage a team of support/administration staff, external Technical Advisors, and Contractors, with responsibility for project budgets up to £10m.
2. Act as Client Lead on various capital projects for Northumberland County Council.
3. Implement strict project management controls: budget tracking, contract management, risk and issues management, project timelines, milestones, team coordination, communication strategies, and reporting.
4. Engage with key stakeholders and produce detailed briefs, including site requirements, end-user needs, grant terms, and budget confirmation.
5. Oversee projects from pre-feasibility to completion, ensuring they meet time, budget, and scope requirements.
6. Support feasibility studies to inform future capital programs.
7. Sign off projects for construction, ensuring cost packs are approved before on-site work begins.
8. Produce reports and data for operational or research purposes to support performance management.
Requirements of the Job
We are looking for someone with:
* A relevant degree and, ideally, a professional qualification.
* A project management or related vocational qualification.
* Experience in capital project delivery.
* The ability to provide expert client project management, applying knowledge of the development cycle (RIBA Plan of Works).
* Significant experience in partnership working and stakeholder engagement, with strong communication skills.
* Proven success in delivering projects at a similar level.
* A valid UK driving license.
