Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Technical Instructor

CarePlus Group provides person centred support to those vulnerable adults requiringspecialist therapy input within the North East Lincolnshire Area. Within CarePlus Group we provide a range of services in each area, there are highly skilled practitioners that place the individual atthe forefront of their care and promote faster recovery from illness, prevent unnecessaryacute hospital admissions and premature admissions to long-term care, supporttimely discharge from hospital and maximise independent living whereverpossible. This is achievable through creative and unique interventions withineach service area. Multi-professional staff will collaborate with individualsto ensure they achieve their full potential in terms of their level ofindependence, health and wellbeing.This post is to workspecifically with the Occupational Therapy team, you will carry your owncaseload, following triage, and have senior support from an occupationaltherapist(OT) within the team as required. The caseload will all be adults presenting with a range of conditions, including those with a palliativediagnosis, the post will sit in a team of OT/Physiotherapy staff.This Range 4 post, could be considered as a development opportunity to start at Range 3 for an individual with experience in enabling/ rehab fieldwilling to work towards objectives to facilitate achieving a Range 4.

Technical Instructor

Department: Community Therapy NEL

Base: Cromwell Road, Primary Care Centre

37.5 hours Permanent

Salary Range 4 £26,416 - £28,182 per annum - you will be appointed on a fixed salary point within the range

You will provide a high standard of practice undertaking all aspects of clinical duties appropriate for a Technical Instructor and you will liaise with the wider MDT and participate in the provision at each service in a variety of locations with the community, including home visits and group settings,providing an effective rehabilitation and discharge preparation service.

You will manage a defined caseload of patients using evidence based/patient-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, including discharge planning.

Complete therapy assessments, as part of this assessment consider rehabilitation needs, equipment and adaptations.

Use communication, reasoning and negotiation skills.

Devise suitable treatment plans for and with individuals, considering their needs and any specific local access criteria.

Supervise therapy programmes and alter/adapt the programme in routine situations (including the patients homes).

Give out, check and alter therapeutic equipment including assessment for mobility aids. Be responsible for the safe use of equipment and aids by patients in your care.

Manage the assessment, treatment and discharge of a patient caseload, as delegated by the therapist following triage.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Foundation Degree in relevant subject area
* or
* NVQ Level 3 in relevant subject area with 2 years experience of therapeutic support work
* Minimum Level 2 Numeracy and literacy or equivalent level of competence
* Awareness of health promotion / education


Experience

* Previous experience of and competency in therapeutic support work, ideally as an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor or equivalent.
* Previous experience of multidisciplinary and/or multi-agency working
* Previous experience of working with volunteers and/or community groups


Skills & Knowledge

* Able to work effectively in a team and in collaboration with other disciplines and agencies.
* Self-motivated to work independently with delegated tasks
* Understanding of Health and Safety, including Moving and Handling issues and Risk Assessment
* Understanding of local community issues in North East Lincolnshire
* Clear and effective communication skills both verbal and written
* Accurate record keeping and competent in Microsoft office including Word, Outlook & Excel
* Empathetic approach
* Able to move and handle safely
* Motivational skills
* Moving and Handling Training
* Basic Understanding of Risk Management
* Health & Safety training


Other

* Ability to demonstrate commitment to CPG core values
* Ability to transport self and others around the area.
* Ability to maintain moderate to intense physical effort
