Job overview

The Transformation team lead and support a range of strategic, change and operational projects on behalf of the organisation. The Transformation Team seeks to guide impactful change across the organisation through facilitating collaboration in alignment with the Trust’s strategy and priorities, where clinical, operational and other subject matter experts work together to design future ways of working to benefit patients, staff and the organisation. The team applies evidence-based change and project management approaches, continuously learning from our own work and from best practice to ensure desired changes are embedded and effective.

The team offers a range of skills including project and change management, benchmarking and data analysis, communications and engagement experience, and benefits realisation management. Using this expertise, we work trust-wide with the aim of delivering clear benefits that become embedded in the organisation.

The Transformation Senior Project Managers are key roles within the team, working as a flexible project resource within the Trust’s Transformation Directorate and responsible for planning and delivery of a range of business process change, clinical and technical projects.

The post holder will be expected to work flexibly in accordance with the requirements of this post and will be required to lead and be responsible for all aspects of the complete project lifecycle including the management of all human and financial resources allocated. The Senior Project Manager will provide expert advice and guidance to other staff from within the Transformation Directorate or from the Trust as required, taking personal responsibility for the delivery of any designated projects defined within the Programme. They will be responsible for the identification and delivery of benefits planned to be realised during the course of the project.

Critical to the success of this role is an excellent understanding and good experience of Project and Change Management tools and techniques. The post holder must be qualified in at least one project management methodology (, Prince 2, MoR, MoV, Agile or P3O) and will be responsible for the creation and the quality of the documentation required to drive successful project delivery, for example, Project Briefs and Business Cases (including Benefits register), Project Initiation Documents, Risk Registers and Issues Logs, Project Plans, Project Highlight, Exception and Stage Reports, Lesson Learned Logs and End of Project Reports.


Main duties of the job

* Lead and deliver significant projects within the Transformation Directorate. Projects will range in size and timeframe, from quick and simple to longer term and complex.
* For larger projects, work as part of a team to support development, delivery, implementation and hand-over.
* Provide project update reports to the Head of Programme Delivery or for inclusion in Project / Programme monitoring reports to senior decision-making Boards.
* Communicate and maintain progress, managing tasks, risks and issues and ensure Project issues are escalated to the appropriate levels of management.
* Create and report highlight and exception reports for the Project / Programme Board and attend and present at Project and Programme Boards as appropriate.
* Lead on project stakeholder mapping and development of project engagement and communications plans to ensure that all project stakeholders are engaged appropriately.
* To define, document, and monitor the delivery of project benefits and manage conflict and emotional situations in a mature and non-confrontational style whilst being clear on the direction required to be taken to realise the defined benefits.
* Be responsible for ensuring change management processes and techniques are appropriately utilised to successfully implement required changes.
