What you will be doing
During the placement you will learn about the Calibration department with a focus on maintenance within Airbus. You will work closely with the drilling team and have the opportunity to use your skills to implement change to support and solidify our maintenance strategy. The role places you at the centre of the drilling team, supported by dedicated engineers, gaining knowledge of all Airbus variants across the site. You will work with people inside the team and around the plant and will have the opportunity to support and autonomously run projects across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People. The primary focus will be on modernising the maintenance department, including workshop processes and spares management, and planned preventive maintenance, enabling growth into new technologies. You will also support the management team in enabling production.
During this placement the activities you may undertake include:
* Safety topics such as Risk Assessments, PUWER, LOLER and safety audits in production environments
* Engaging with the Quality team on Process Confirmations, asset care plans and root cause analysis tools
* Supporting team engagement initiatives and environment and sustainability projects
* Representing the Calibration business at drumbeat reviews and acting as a focal point for customers
Your ideas and support will contribute to defining long-term strategy, including introducing new technologies. You will develop presentation, networking and stakeholder management skills and learn about Airbus Operating System and Lean principles.
Requirements
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only and candidates must be an undergraduate for the entire duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date in the application.

* Studying towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Beneficial to have Computer Science awareness (developing websites, Google suite)
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
* Organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
* Willingness to learn and immerse yourself in Airbus ways of working
* Interest in maintenance and reliability of assets (preferred)
Security clearance
You will be subject to a BPSS check and may need UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
