Position Location: Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire Start Date: September Start Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 15:30 (Term-Time Only) Pay: £84.05 - £90 per day (inclusive of 12.07% holiday pay) Contract: Temp to Perm School This specialist setting caters to pupils aged 4-19 with a range of complex needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and associated behavioural challenges. The school is committed to creating a structured, nurturing, and engaging environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth for all learners. Responsibilities Build consistent, trusting relationships with pupils, particularly those of secondary age Support the delivery of individualised lessons that promote engagement and skill-building Provide 1:1 and small group support, focusing on behaviour regulation, sensory needs, and communication Use a calm and positive approach to support pupils with challenging behaviour Assist with personal care and mobility support where needed Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure cohesive support Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment Requirements Experience supporting children or young people with SLD, ASD, or behaviours that challenge Confidence working with secondary-aged pupils A calm, resilient and proactive attitude Strong communication and teamwork skills A solid understanding of safeguarding, behaviour support, and inclusive education We welcome professional or personal experience - whether through work, volunteering, or supporting family Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain) Reliable access to Welwyn Garden City Benefits Support from a dedicated consultant Access to over 20 free CPD training courses Weekly PAYE pay - no umbrella company fees Ongoing support with applications and career development Safeguarding & Equal Opportunities We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
