An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, highly motivated, enthusiastic professional to work in a high profile role within the Finance department at Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The successful candidate will be supporting at least one clinical area reporting to, and occasionally deputising for, the Finance & Business Manager. They will be an integral part of the Finance department as well as a key point of contact for the divisional team. The post holder will also be managing at least one member of staff, including supporting them in their career development and completing their annual appraisal.
Although desirable, previous NHS experience is not essential and full training will be provided for the right candidate. The role provides an excellent opportunity for an individual seeking to develop their career in Finance.
Main duties of the job
* To provide sound financial advice to divisional teams within the Trust using financial and other information to support the divisional management teams in making recommendations for improvements to the efficiency and effectiveness of the directorate/Trust
* To direct and lead the work of direct line reports to provide an efficient and proactive management accounting service, ensuring deadlines are met and the needs and objectives of the Trust are achieved
* To promote and support a culture of robust and innovative service based financial planning across the Trust
* As part of the Finance department management team, provide effective leadership for the success and future direction of the department

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To be a finance lead for a Directorate/Division in the Trust, including responsibility for the management accounting function of that area.
* To ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, integrity and business focus of financial systems and processes.
* To investigate and advise on complex issues & lead on providing financial and business planning advice to the Division.
* To ensure that the financial statements represent a true and fair view and meet relevant financial timescales and legal requirements, interpreting these where necessary.

Qualifications
* Part Qualified Accountant or equivalent experience
Experience
* Considerable experience of working in a Management Accounts Department
Knowledge & Skills
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Excellent analytical skills
* Ability to plan, organise and prioritise a number of tasks
* Excellent IT skills with the ability to accurately create input, manipulate data, and develop reports and documents, using a range of software
