The Opportunity
The Procurement Category Manager is part of the Global Procurement & Supply Chain team, reporting to the Head of Procurement. This role manages strategic and tactical sourcing within the pharmaceutical sector, specifically for Excipients, to meet internal stakeholder needs, support business growth, optimize costs, and ensure supply security.
Role Responsibilities
* Lead global sourcing strategies across functions, regions, and manufacturing sites.
* Develop and lead strategic sourcing teams at the site level.
* Implement procurement best practices and talent management to generate continuous opportunities.
* Set and execute category strategies aligned with business objectives.
* Drive process improvements, cost savings (targeting 3% YoY), and value creation without compromising compliance, quality, or service.
* Ensure supplier compliance and risk mitigation.
* Identify and implement cost and process improvements, supporting business priorities.
* Collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, regulatory, QC, and supply teams to meet operational needs.
* Gather market intelligence to maintain competitiveness and transparency.
* Manage the full supplier portfolio, including sourcing, negotiations, and contracting.
The Candidate

* At least 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in an international pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
* Experience in procurement categories within the pharmaceutical or chemically regulated industries.
* Knowledge of procurement systems and best practices.
* Experience with multi-site ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
* Proven track record in leading international procurement projects.
* Understanding of contractual terms and supplier market dynamics.
* Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience.
Additional Information
* Occasional global travel may be required.
* Based in Northwich / hybrid work arrangement.
