We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team and provide tailored care to an individual with autism and a learning disability.
About the Role:
You will be providing support for a 40-year-old gentleman with Autism and learning difficulties. The gentleman lives in the family home and is supported on a 2:1 bases. Your focus will be on promoting independence, assisting with daily tasks, personal care and facilitating community activities, while adapting to their physical and emotional needs.
Activities and Interests Include:
* Participating in daily household tasks, such as preparing drinks and organising belongings.
* Engaging in community outings, including car rides (they enjoy riding in the front seat and operating the radio).
* Taking part in structured activities and trying new experiences with support.
This individual can present with challenging behaviours, and will need support staff who can remain calm in heightened situations, and offer the reassurance needed.
Shifts:
* Monday, Tuesdays & Wednesdays.
The days of support may increase to include weekends.
Your Responsibilities:
* Encourage and support independence in daily tasks at home and in the community.
* Provide sensitive and respectful personal care when needed.
* Build confidence and help manage anxieties, such as a previously reduced fear of dogs.
* Facilitate engaging activities, ensuring an enriching routine.
* Use your own vehicle for outings (expenses covered as per agreed arrangements).
What We Are Looking For:
* Experience in Health and Social Care, particularly with individuals with autism, learning disabilities and behaviours that can challenge.
* A full, clean driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
* Patience, understanding, and a commitment to inclusion and empowerment.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing health and activity needs.
