Binnies are recruiting an environmental team leader for our Bradford on Avon and Bristol offices.
As well as providing a managerial role, you will work on a diverse portfolio of projects, including nationally significant infrastructure and landscape restoration. Our work spans flood, coastal, maritime projects, ports, water utilities, transport, and renewable energy sectors.
One of our latest projects is SESRO (South East Strategic Reservoir Option), a 150 million cubic metre reservoir near Abingdon, aimed at creating habitats, increasing biodiversity, and providing leisure facilities.
We are a close-knit team with an active Environmental Community of Practice, leading in environmental best practices and digital EIA. Our professionals work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver sustainable solutions. Binnies holds the IEMA EIA Quality Mark, reflecting our high standards in EIA delivery.
About the Role
The role includes:
* Managing all stages of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), including SEA, WFD, HRA, and planning permissions.
* Reviewing and approving environmental deliverables, ensuring technical quality.
* Leading and overseeing the regional Environmental Team, managing resources, and collaborating with HR on team welfare and performance.
* Supporting business development and tender processes.
* Mentoring team members and supporting recruitment efforts.
Qualifications/Requirements
Applicants should be environmental professionals with full membership (IEMA, IES, CIWEM), an environmental degree, and Chartered status. Essential skills include:
* Strong understanding of EIA, sustainability, and consenting processes.
* Excellent communication skills.
* People management experience.
* Commercial awareness and ability to manage budgets and projects.
* Client relationship experience.
* Full UK driving license.
Experience in construction delivery is an advantage but not essential. We welcome senior applicants; salary is flexible based on experience. Start date and hybrid working arrangements are flexible.
