About Our Client
The Assistant Financial Accountant will support the accounting team in delivering accurate financial reporting. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong grasp of accounting principles and an interest in the industrial/manufacturing sector based in Guildford.
Job Description
* Prepare and post journals including payroll, accruals, prepayments, reallocations and corrections.* Maintain high‑quality balance sheet reconciliations, investigating variances promptly.* Ownership of monthly and intercompany reporting to group, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines, and being first point of contact.* Support the Financial Accounting Manager in the preparation of statutory accounts.* Compile audit evidence, schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors.* Help maintain a robust internal control environment, including supporting internal audit activities as required.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Assistant Financial Accountant should have:
3. A background in accountancy or finance, supported by relevant qualifications, preferably in an engineering, technology, manufacturing or project‑based environment.
4. Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, lookups) and comfortable with integrated ERP systems.
5. Experience with SAP‑based systems or similar: SAP Business One / S4Hana / SAP Concur highly desirable.
6. Understanding of UK GAAP and basic statutory reporting requirements.
