Make a Real Difference to Parent Carers in Solihull. Are you passionate about supporting families and improving the lives of unpaid carers? We are looking for a dedicated Parent Carer Worker to join our team and support parents of children (under 18) with disabilities and/or additional needs. In this role you will have experience of completing high-quality assessments, creating person-centred support plans, contingency planning, and access to wellbeing opportunities for parent carers across Solihull. You will help families build resilience, develop independence, and connect with vital networks that improve their long-term wellbeing.
We are looking for someone who is:
Compassionate, empathetic, and committed to improving the lives of unpaid carers.
Excellent written skills and understanding of carers needs.
Skilled at communicating with a wide range of people, including families and professionals.
Confident working independently and as part of a supportive team.
Well-organised, solution-focused, and able to manage a varied caseload.
Keen to learn and adapt with the changing needs of carers and services.
Experience working with carers, families, or within health/social care is desirable, but we welcome applicants with transferable skills and a passion for making a difference.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
* Act as a Single Point of Access for parent carers—providing high-quality information, guidance, signposting, and referrals.
* Carry out carers assessments, reviews, and personalised support plans in a timely and person-centred way.
* Support carers in developing contingency plans and preparing for future needs.
* Work in partnership with health, social care, community organisations and providers to maximise choice, control, and independence for carers.
* Apply the Children and Families Act 2014 and the Care Act 2014 within your daily practice.
* Organise and deliver drop-ins, training sessions, peer support groups, and wellbeing activities.
* Promote health and wellbeing across the Borough, contributing to the development of a carers’ wellbeing programme.
* Maintain accurate records, collect monitoring data, and use tools to demonstrate service impact.
* Contribute to newsletters, publicity materials, and reception cover when required.
* Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
* Explore and integrate AI tools into your working practice where beneficial.
* Undertake any additional duties as agreed with the Chief Executive.

* Staff receive 29 days’ holiday a year pro rata, inclusive of bank/public holidays and concessionary days. An extra day for each full year of service as at 1st April each year up to a maximum of 37 days (inclusive of bank/public holidays and concessionary days).
