About the Role
This Senior Manager position (Grade 015) will join the Corporate Reporting Advisory Team (CRT) within BDO’s Audit Quality Department (AQD). The role supports the development of high-quality financial reporting for publicly traded and higher‑risk companies, with a focus on advanced financial services sectors such as Banking, Alternative Finance, FinTech, and Insurance.
General Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Managers, Senior Managers, Directors and Partners across AQD, the Audit Stream and the wider firm.
* Maintain and encourage an open, constructive environment for technical accounting support and advice.
* Provide pre‑existing financial services specialist knowledge to the CRT team and contribute across all output areas.
* Support and supervise more junior team members.
Specific Responsibilities
* Carry out technical review of a personal portfolio of annual reports of publicly traded and other higher‑risk companies, confirming compliance with financial reporting standards, company legislation and regulatory requirements.
* Provide clear, practical solutions to the most complex technical financial reporting queries and act as a consultant for junior members.
* Prepare and present financial reporting training, updates and seminars both internally and externally.
* Help develop financial reporting tools and guidance for partners and staff.
* Write articles and other publications on financial reporting matters for internal and external communications.
* Assist with draft responses to external consultations on legal, regulatory and financial reporting matters.
* Monitor external developments in financial reporting and, within specialist areas, report back to the team and develop appropriate action plans.
* Support and coach junior members of the CRT and wider AQD team.
Qualifications
* ACA/ICAS qualified or overseas equivalent.
* Senior Manager in a technical team or an experienced auditor with a strong technical aptitude.
* Strong working knowledge of IFRSs, UK GAAP, and the Companies Act.
* Sector specialism in financial services – particularly Banking, Alternative Finance, FinTech, or Insurance.
* Experience performing technical reviews of annual reports of listed companies.
* Proven ability to apply technical knowledge to complex financial reporting issues and provide practical, supportable solutions.
* Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to different scenarios.
* Ability to create productive relationships across the firm and influence senior professionals.
* Willingness to work as part of a close‑knit team and as a self‑directed individual.
* Highly motivated and proactive, with a desire to innovate and improve internal services.
