The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Integration & Systems Validation Team within our Weapon Systems Simulation & Experimentation (WSSE) department.
This team sits at the heart of our digital simulation and experimentation capability, ensuring complex systems are rigorously tested, validated, and ready for delivery. You'll work on cutting-edge simulation environments that integrate real products, models, synthetic environments, and people across the full systems lifecycle.
This is a dynamic, fast-paced role offering exposure to both rapid mini-projects and longer-term critical programmes, from early concept demonstration through to system delivery and customer training.
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the ISV Team Lead, you'll be responsible for the end-to-end software testing and proving lifecycle for one or more products within a simulation or emulation environment.
Test & Proving Planning
Understand customer needs and requirements from a testing and proving perspective
Review system design and architecture to define test bed requirements
Develop comprehensive software test plans, designs, and specificationsTest & Proving Execution
Conduct progressive assurance testing throughout the development lifecycle
Lead technical investigations into software defects and emergent behaviours
Support software integration activities, trials, and demonstrations
Analyse logs and data to identify issues and demonstrate compliance
Execute formal software qualification testingReporting & Delivery
Provide regular updates to project leads and stakeholders
Produce detailed test and analysis reports to support certification
Support software release and final delivery activities
What We're Looking For:
Essential Skills & Experience
Experience in systems proving, software testing, or verification & validation (V&V)
Understanding of testing complex systems across the development lifecycle
Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work in a fast-moving environment
Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to manage your own workload and continuously improve ways of working
Technical Knowledge (one or more of the following)
Python scripting and/or test automation
GitLab, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines
JIRA, IBM DOORS / ALM / ETM or similar tools
Log and data analysis
Agile / Scrum environments
Software simulation or emulation (desirable)
Desirable
ISTQB or similar software testing certification
Experience working on complex, safety-critical, or real-time systems
