We are now looking for a Dancewear & Costume Workshop Supervisor to join our team, to oversee a small team and ensure the delivery of exemplary standards of production in the creation of tutus, dance costumes and own label dancewear. In addition to your workshop duties, this varied and interesting role involves a range of administrative and customer service tasks in support of our in-store and online services. Responsibilities include : To manage the day-to-day activities & workflow of the team. To coach, mentor and instruct the team, providing support as required. To ensure the effective handling of customer enquiries. To oversee the management of key dance school accounts To construct costumes & dancewear from start to finish using sewing machines, overlockers, coverstitch & bar tack machines, together with hand finishing techniques. To create, work with and adapt patterns. Fabric Cutting To work with a variety of fabrics, including stretch fabrics, lycra & tulle. To work closely with the dancewear design team to create & produce off-the-shelf dancewear garments. To work with individual customers to produce bespoke tutus & costumes made to order To oversee the sourcing and acquisition of fabrics and accessories Ability and willingness to multi-skill to support the wider team The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years experience in creating tutus & costumes. Excellent machine sewing skills alongside fine finishing and hand sewing are essential. Must be experienced and highly proficient in using overlockers and coverstitch machines, with experience in using bar tack machines an advantage. An excellent understanding of patterns, garment construction and professional costume construction methods is required. Excellent pattern design skills are also required, with pattern making & cutting experience within a commercial setting being an advantage. Strong people skills are essential, with experience in a supervisory role, a distinct advantage. Excellent communication skills in all forms are essential to ably process the full range of customer enquiries. The working hours for this role are 37 per week, Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00am to 5:30pm. The competitive salary for this role is negotiable, dependent upon experience.
