Job Overview
Full‑time Band 6 Sister position within the Renal unit – Gate 8b. The unit is a 32-bed facility providing renal, dialysis and transplant care to the South West community.
Main Duties
* Day‑to‑day unit management and leading the team.
* Support the Senior Sister and undertake audits.
* Lead board rounds and participate in MDT working.
* Communicate difficult conversations with patients and families.
* Manage referrals, E‑rostering and Radar complaints.
* Support other renal units within North Bristol Trust to gain interdisciplinary working.
* Attend mandatory training and evidence of attendance at required training.
* Maintain current NMC license to practice.
* Evidence of a recognised teaching & assessing qualification.
Essential Qualifications
* NMC registration.
* BS‑C Hons in Adult Nursing.
* Minimum 2 years experience at a Band 5 licence.
* Facilitating Learning and Assessment in Practice (FLAP) or equivalent.
* Renal competencies, IV certificate and other clinical skills appropriate to the area.
* Evidence of study towards a management qualification.
Desirable Qualifications
* Post‑registration Renal Speciality course.
* Evidence of study at level 7.
* Advanced haemodialysis skills and problem‑solving.
* Knowledge of workforce planning and service development.
Essential Experience
* Experience managing a nursing team and using hospital computer systems.
* Datix / Radar management.
Desirable Experience
* Technical and nursing haemodialysis issue problem‑solving.
Essential Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
* Patient safety, safeguarding and risk management.
* Clinical leadership within the nursing team.
* Monitoring standards of nursing care.
