Warehouse Operations Manager
£50,000 + Benefits | Harlow, Essex | Multi‐Site Operation | Fast‐Moving Consumer Goods
A newly created Warehouse Operations Manager role supporting the Supply Chain Director and leading the day‐to‐day operational performance of a multi‐site, high‐volume warehouse environment. With circa. 40 staff across Goods‐In, Picking, Packing, Despatch and Fleet, this is a fast‐paced operation handling containers, pallets, parcels, imports/exports and on‐site packing.
This role suits an experienced Warehouse/Operations Manager or a strong step‐up candidate with the pace, technical capability and leadership strength to run a complex, high‐throughput environment.
The role
You'll take ownership of all warehousing, dispatch, and logistics activities across multiple on‐site warehouses, ensuring orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately, on time, and at the lowest sustainable cost. You'll manage labour planning, space utilisation, courier and fleet performance, and continuous improvement initiatives backed by data and ROI.
You'll lead and develop Team Leaders, build a high‐performance culture, and ensure safety, standards and productivity remain consistently high across a 6‐day operation with seasonal peaks.
Key responsibilities
* Lead all warehouse operations: Goods‐In, Replenishment, Picking, Packing and Despatch
* Manage courier relationships, fleet operations, delivery performance and cost per order
* Own warehouse layout, slotting, ABC analysis, replenishment logic and space utilisation
* Maintain ERP accuracy across scanning, locations and dispatch
* Build capacity models for labour, throughput, space and bottlenecks
* Drive continuous improvement across cost, accuracy, throughput and safety
* Deliver data‐backed business cases for layout changes, automation or process redesign
* Lead and develop Team Leaders, ensuring strong succession and training
* Maintain a proactive safety culture across warehouse and transport operations
What we're looking for
* Experience managing high‐volume warehouse operations
* Strong understanding of courier management, fleet operations and warehouse flow
* ERP experience
* Deep knowledge of cost per pick, labour productivity and capacity planning
* Proven ability to deliver measurable operational improvements
* Lean / CI mindset with the ability to redesign processes and improve efficiency
* IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
* Strong people leadership with experience developing Team Leaders
