Aspiring Educational Psychologist – Psychology Graduate – Sunderland – Learning Support Assistant Trial days and interviews will take place in October & November 2025, with the full-time role starting as soon as you are available, or beginning Monday 24th November. We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an Aspiring Educational Psychologist – Psychology Graduate to work as a Learning Support Assistant in secondary schools across Sunderland. This full-time role is ideal for graduates who want to develop a deep understanding of learning differences, emotional wellbeing, and therapeutic education. Location: Sunderland Salary: From £101.40 per day Start Date: November 2025 (interviews available from today) Contract: Term-time only, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm Why This Role Is Perfect for Aspiring Educational Psychologists: This Learning Support Assistant position offers invaluable experience for those pursuing a career in educational or child psychology. You’ll be supporting students aged 11–18 with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. You’ll gain daily experience in: Applying psychological and educational support strategies such as emotional regulation and sensory integration. Working closely with SEND specialists, educational psychologists, and therapy teams. Using restorative and trauma-informed approaches to promote positive learning experiences. Developing communication, observation, and reflective practice—key skills for future psychology training. This role gives you real insight into the intersection of education and psychology, helping you build the professional experience and understanding required for Educational Psychology Doctorate applications. Key Responsibilities: Deliver 1:1 and small-group learning and emotional support to students. Assist in implementing and reviewing individual learning and behaviour plans. Support pupils with emotional regulation, engagement, and sensory needs (full training provided). Build positive, trusting relationships with students and staff. Record and reflect on student progress and behaviour accurately. We’re Looking For: A degree in Psychology or related discipline (essential). A strong interest in educational, developmental, or child psychology. Experience working with children or young people (desirable). Empathy, resilience, and excellent communication skills.
