Job Summary
Specialty Manager – Women and Children’s Division, Paediatrics SBU
Primary focus: leading operational management within the Paediatrics SBU, ensuring services run safely, effectively and efficiently while meeting the Trust’s and Division’s strategic objectives.
The successful candidate will work alongside Matrons, Clinical Directors and the Associate Director of Operations, providing senior leadership, strategic direction and change management across the specialty.
Main Duties
* Jointly responsible with the Clinical Director and Matron for the strategic and operational management of the specialty business unit(s), ensuring delivery of high quality patient services within available resources.
* Lead strategic planning, service redesign, and modernisation initiatives aligned with the Trust’s overall strategy and transformation programme.
* Set and meet operational performance targets, manage waiting lists and financial performance, including bed utilisation and financial management.
* Champion continuous improvement and clinical innovation, securing commitment from all staff to organisational change and efficiency gains.
* Ensure all non‑nursing staff in the portfolio are managed in line with the Trust’s employment policies.
* Support the professional development of staff and maintain a strong team ethic focused on delivering excellent patient care.

Person Specification
Essential
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
* Service quality and process improvement expertise.
* Knowledge of current NHS changes and developments.
* Experience applying change management theory.
* Extensive leadership and management experience within a complex NHS system.
Desirable
* Postgraduate qualification in management or health care.
* Knowledge and experience of budget management.
* NHS experience managing diverse staff groups.
* Women & Children’s services knowledge within an NHS environment.
