Your new role
As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will install,mission, maintain, and modify infrastructure to ensurepliance and operational efficiency. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Technical and Operational Duties: Install,mission, maintain, and modify electrical and mechanical systems, monitor BMS and security systems, and support bespoke projects.
2. Problem-Solving and Innovation: Diagnose faults in building fabric, IT services, and specialist equipment, and design creative solutions to enhance functionality and efficiency.
3. Collaboration andmunication: Work closely with internal teams, suppliers, contractors, and consultants to deliver effective solutions.
4. Task and Resource Management: Self-manage projects, oversee external suppliers when required, and raise purchase orders for works and projects.
5. Supervision: While you have no direct line management responsibilities, you may support apprentices and manage contractors as needed.
6. Autonomy and Accountability: Operate with minimal supervision, influence policies where appropriate, and work safely withplex systems such as pressure vessels, steam plant, and electrical distribution.
7. Working Environment: Expect a varied role in a scientific laboratory setting, involving hands-on tasks such as welding, fabrication, pipefitting, and occasional work at heights, outdoors, or in confined spaces.
8. Maintaining and servicing electrical and mechanical systems via CAFM/CMMS.
9. Supporting research projects through bespoke modifications.
10. Adapting infrastructure to meet evolving business needs.
11. Monitoring and reacting to BMS, security, and CCTV systems.
12. Collaborating with suppliers and contractors for specialist problem-solving.
Working hours: Monday-Thursday (45 min unpaid lunch) and Fridays
What you'll need to succeed
We are ideally looking for a candidate with a mechanical or electrical background, at least 3 years' experience, as well as the below:
13. Recognised qualification in Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering.
14. Experience in industry or trades.
15. Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
16. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong problem-solving skills.
17. Desirable: welding, fabrication, and pipefitting skills.
18. Willingness to learn and undertake further training.
19. Must have a valid UK driving licence to be able to get to the site as there is no local public transport.
