Research Support Technician
Grade 5 (£29,588 – £33,002 p.a. depending on experience).

Do you have experience working in a laboratory environment and want to use your skills and experience to support our busy research laboratories and help support our academic staff and industrial partners?
Responsibilities
You will be based on campus five days per week to support the School’s expanding research portfolio in NAPIC activities across a range of laboratories at all School sites. Your duties include collecting data on processing alternative proteins (plants, algae, insects, fungi, bacteria, etc.), analysing research samples using biological, chemical and physical protocols, providing support and expertise to student and industry‑funded projects (sample collection, preparation and analysis using wet chemical and instrumental techniques), maintaining equipment (servicing, procurement and stock management of chemicals and consumables), and producing necessary documentation (SOPs, risk assessments, COSHH forms).
Qualifications
Relevant experience in a laboratory environment and a BSc or BTEC Higher Diploma (or equivalent) in a related subject. Strong organisational and communication skills, independent and team‑oriented. Experience with processing equipment such as fermenters, dryers, and handling food samples (e.g., meat analogues, protein dispersions) is desirable.
Requirements
